Friday Top Ten Shout-Out

If you are a regular consumer of the blogosphere, you probably have noticed the proliferation of the blogroll (a list of links to other blogs or websites that the author of the blog regularly likes to read.) You may have noticed that mine is relatively short and sometimes stagnant. I have my reasons. Last week, I wrapped a puzzle in with my weekly top ten. Today, I'd like to include a little commentary on blogrolling vis-à-vis 2 Corinthians 6:14.

That particular passage is frequently applied exclusively to marriage. While I think the principle is an excellent one to consider in weighty choices such as that, I think we sell the Scripture short when we overlook the many other areas in life where we are called to "be separate". These verses speak of things like partnership, fellowship, accord, sharing your portion, agreement. In some way, I think this can speak to the associations that we make on the web.

Other than laziness and snobbery, this is a reason that I have been hesitant to add people to my blogroll. I want to be cautious about to whom and to what I "permalink". It's also a concern that I have about MySpace.com, but that's a post for another day. Now, with the caveat that I do not endorse, agree with, or otherwise approve of the content at the other end of these hyperlinks, I think it's high time I share with you the
