Friday Top Twelve
I know, I know. Last week I bumped it up to eleven and now this week the top ten is actually a full dozen. I promise, next week we'll be back down to our normal ten. However, I've been contemplating the consequences of having a woman president. If Hillary were to actually win the 2008 election, or if we were to find a willing candidate among the Republicans, how would that change the face of leadership? In considering this possibility, I would offer you today the top twelve (by 2005 national population) countries who have elected a female head of state (president, prime minister, or chancellor):
- Dr. Vaira Vike-Freiberga - Latvia
- Portia Simpson-Miller - Jamaica
- Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf - Liberia
- Mary McAleese - Ireland
- Helen Clark - New Zealand
- Tarja Halonen - Finland
- Michelle Bachelet - Chile
- Luisa Diogo - Mozambique
- Myeong Sook Han - South Korea
- Angela Merkel - Germany
- Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo - Philippines
- Khaleda Zia - Bangladesh

I dislike Hillary so much just the thought of her as president upsets me. I think she is too partisan and too negative to really have a chance though. Plus I dont think the citizens are ready to elect a female president. I'm not.
